Matt & Laurel Green met at university in the late 90s, married, then headed west to live the typical Seattle lifestyle: he playing in an indie rock band and she working in a coffee shop. After about three years they ventured back east and began to consider their options. They started their careers in education teaching English in Spain, and eventually decided to go back to school to acquire full teaching credentials. They have been living and working outside of the United States for over 10 years now, and have completed teaching contracts in Dubai, Istanbul, and Taipei.
Laura Kitchin on wanting to see the world
When Laura Kitchin decided to move to Barcelona, she knew she would be teaching English there. What she didn’t know was that she would be enjoying three-hour dinners, traveling to several countries each year, and getting an up-close look at the independence movement in Catalonia.

Laura Kitchin moved from the United States to Spain in 2006 where she has been working as an English teacher ever since.  Laura worked for more than a decade in the field of mental health and has an M.A. in Special Education. She currently resides in the center of Barcelona in a rooftop apartment where she lovingly tends to her large collection of plants. Laura loves to travel, is a passionate reader, and is always exploring the city looking for her new favorite dining spot.
Willie White on developing lasting relationships through teaching
Five weeks after his 1991 wedding, Willie White and his new bride were working in Saudi Arabia. Over the next 30 years, they would travel, live and work in more than 50 countries, she as an engineer, he as an English teacher.

Willie White has visited and lived in more than 50 countries, although these days he and his wife Meg are hunkered down in their house by the Chesapeake Bay with our two dogs. In addition to travel, Willie loves all aspects of boating, from sailing to canoeing, as well as hiking, camping, and seeking adventure. Currently, he teaches online for an English school in Thailand, and is a Historical Interpreter for The National Park Service at Fort McHenry National Monument and Shrine.Â
